Is hydropower a good way to power our homes? Hydropower may sound like a confusing word but all it really means is getting power from water. Hydropower is a way we can use the force of rivers, oceans, and any other body of water to make energy and electricity. Hydropower plants produce 24% of the world’s electricity, which means they supply more than one billion people with power. It would be a good idea to build these in the ocean, because the waves have more force and power, which would create more energy. How hydropower works is first, the water is at a high reservoir point then rushes into a pipe (there is usually a gate to prevent fish and other things getting through).This brings the water downwards into a turbine. After this, the water moves the turbine, creating energy and electricity. The turbine is connected to power lines which store this energy and bring it into your house hold. However since you need water to do this, it may not work in some dry places, like the desert; also this may not always work, due to the fact that sometimes water doesn’t always have waves with a lot of force, especially in lakes, because they always depend on the weather. This can also affect how much water flows downstream, and this water is needed for plants and other aquatic life, like fish and turtles.

All of these things are good aspects to look out for, but WeeBuiltDis City is near a lake, so that problem is solved. Also, although waves are helpful, they are not needed. The dam takes in water, so it doesn't need waves, even though the waves should create more electricity. Another problem solved. The last problem would be the cleanliness. Our dam is able to purify the water, and no living thing is able to enter. Also, the dam flushes out the excess(and clean) water, so no resources are wasted.
ReplyDeletei agree waves arent needed as much but they would make more electricity,However, this may be harmful to fish if the water path isnt blocked with a wall or gate of some sort. also the cleanliness could be a problem.
ReplyDeleteI do not understand how cleanliness could possibly be a problem considering that now the animals that live outside the water can drink the non-polluted water. Also, the fish and other water species can live a healthier life in clean water.
DeleteThe fish will not be harmed because the dam is only able to take in water, so the. fish couldn'5t get in if they tried. Also, I do not understand how cleanliness could be a problem.
